Yoga, You Must Try

Happy Hump Day everyone! We hope your week is going well. As the impending new year looms on the horizon, we know with it come resolutions.

While we are in favor making New Years Resolutions, we reiterate that you subscribe to that same idea everyday– try to do something that will enhance the quality of your life everyday.

It can be something as small as changing the time you wake every morning. Nothing elaborate.

But why not consider this…

Awhile ago, we wrote about work habits that can lead to office injuries– Do Your Back A Favor And Get Off Your Butt. A few of the pain points we stressed were weakened abdominal muscles and loss of hip mobility due to prolong sitting.

While we continue to suggest light office workouts/exercise, information to further support the idea of physical activity to boost brain power has come to light.

Entrepreneur’s Kim Lachance Shandrow adds to the office health and wellness conversation with her piece on corporate culture featuring Chakra 5 Yoga.

And, on top of being a wellness program tax write-off, saying Om at the office boosts employee morale and connection, fostering a positive, fun team spirit.

There may be those of you doubting as yoga is sometimes viewed as “New Age.” The truth is the discipline has been taught and practiced for thousands of years. Furthermore, these are facts that haven’t escaped large organizations, as Chakra 5 has a clientele including

“…local entertainment heavies like Paramount Studios, ABC and Disney, several major hospitals, a few children’s schools, a smattering of luxe boutique hotels, and corporate businesses like Enterprise Rent-A-Car, New Balance and Pinkberry frozen yogurt.”

Even the late Steve Jobs was a yoga practitioner.

Jobs was so passionate about his quest for self-realization that when he passed away in 2011, guests at his memorial service were given a copy of the classic book Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.” – Marc Benioff, CEO of SalesForce.com

The next time you begin to feel tired or as though you’re losing steam completing a project. Do yourself a favor, and  commit to performing your own practice.

You may not be able to afford hiring an on-site trainer or visit a local gym, but you don’t need anything at all to move around.

So get off your butt, unless you’re in the Lotus Position, and take the sagely advice of Jedi master Yoda.
