Boost Your Post-Holiday Productivity
Happy Hump Day everyone! We hope you’ve been able to shake off some of the rust brought on by the holiday break and get back into a stride of high productivity.
While it’s time to get back in gear, we understand that it may be difficult for you and your team to get back into the swing of things.
End of the year deadlines may have left you and your team feeling burnout and feeling as though you just crossed the finish line. OR, perhaps you finished the year in a sprint before going completely dormant in your work life. One way or the other, we know that the gap between Christmas and the New Year, have left your inboxes and voicemail flooded.
Not to worry, we’ve got just the thing for you.
Bamboo HR released the results of their study on “Workplace Distractions” affecting productivity; survey of over 1,000 U.S. employees.
What did they find?
Top 3 Distractions (For Employees)
- Breaks to the kitchen/water cooler/break room; *other than for lunch*
- Bathroom Breaks
- Office Small Talk
Here’s a breakdown of the survey results in an infograph.
What can be gleaned from this information?
Entrepreneur contributor Heather R. Huhman (Career & Workplace Expert) leaves us with this advice.
Allow employees to take productive breaks and socialize with their coworkers. Focus on making the most from their time by breaking down tasks and setting priorities and deadlines for each one. Instead of letting them dread that huge mound of work created by the holidays, ensure that they have a manageable list of tasks.
How do you go about doing so?
Huhman suggests,
- Communicate clearly
- Set new year goals
- Facilitate teamwork
- Eliminate procrastination
Happy Hump Day folks and welcome back, again. We hope to see you here next week as we continue the march into 2015.
