Thank God It’s Friday! We’ve all made it through another work week, and hopefully it was a productive one. What have you been up to this past week? Most recently we had the opportunity to work with the awesome folks spearheading the campaign for Envision America.

What is the goal of Envision America?

Envision America, a new nationwide nonprofit, is issuing a challenge to America’s cities to become smarter by accelerating deployment of innovative technologies that tackle energy, water, waste, and air challenges.

The nationwide non-profit is building off the success of their Envision Charlotte campaign which set to go national in 2016.

The smart cities initiative will kick off by inviting,

10 winning communities [to] participate in Envision America’s workshop in January in Charlotte, NC, where they will work with leading experts from industry and academia to diagnose needs, workshop solutions, and develop new smart initiatives for their community. In addition, they will receive technical assistance throughout the year to support the implementation of their plans.

Just as one good deed deserves another, the initiative’s sponsors are offering a number of perks to aid in the development of smarter cities to each winning community– Microsoft is offering one year of Microsoft Azure Government,  GE is providing smart city infrastructure counsel & expertise and one year of free access to GE Predix, while Accelerated Innovations will be equipping each city with the Envision America app.
